Unboxing: Memebox Oh! My Lips

“Oh my lips! The colder season is comin’ round the corner, but are you lips ready? If taking care of your lips isn’t part of your beauty to-do list this winter, re-think your beauty priorities. Most people don’t know, but collagen loss and wrinkles around the lips add ages to your face, and with winter winds and drier climate, lips are more prone to aging and thinning.  Don’t fret because we’re here to help you fight against lip-aging with this Oh! My Lips Box. All goodies are made with a bold blend of potent age-delaying, moisture-enhancing, volumizing, and smoothing ingredients to give you the look of beautiful, plump, and youthful lips!”

1. Vivito Painting Sweet Lip Balm – 02 Berry Farm

“This chubby jelly-textured tinted lip balm gives rich moisture and nutrition for dry lips. With a refreshing blend of blackberry, orange peel, grape, cacao seed butter, and more natural ingredients, this cute jelly balm will be the answer to winter’s lip-care concerns. It also comes in a cute tin case for on-the-go care!”

You know, I got the Citrus Care box not too long ago and it had the “orange farm” version of this balm in it, and while normally I’d be pissed at a repeat so quick, I actually really like the other balm, so I’m glad to have a backup.  I wish this one was orange instead of berry, because I love orange, but really there isn’t a lot of taste to the balm so it doesn’t matter in any way other than my olfactory pleasure.

2. Lassie’el Kiss Me! Glam Up! Lipstick

“These are not one-time, disposable lip tattoos. They are real pigmented lipsticks packaged into these easy-to-carry lip cards, providing you with 6 different color options to choose from according to your mood, day, and occasion!”

I love that Memebox had to spell it out for us.  “Relax, these aren’t those strange temporary lip tattoos.”  Thanks for that, Memebox.  There are several different colors contained in the packet:  IMG_0513

None of these colors particularly appeal to me, and in any case you’d need a lip brush to be able to properly apply them.  The lipstick itself does seem to be fairly creamy and smooth to work with.

3. SR Lip Scrub

“Exfoliate away dead skin cells and deeply soothe and hydrate dry, chapped lips with SR’s Lip Scrub enriched with a blend of argan oil, tocopherol, vitamin E, snail filtrate, and pearl extracts.  The gentle micro-beads soften and smoothen out roughened lips for suppler, kissable pout!”

This is certainly an appropriate product for a lip box – but I don’t use products that contain microbeads.

4. Vivito Dessin Solution Lip & Eye Remover

“A double-layered Lip& Eye Remover that effectively melts away stubborn point makeup and skin impurities around sensitive eye contours and lips.  Make sure to shake the upper and lower layers well together before application.  Its gentle blend of lemon grass oil and rosehip oil has soothing and moisturizing effects as well.”

…I don’t think this product is particularly relevant.  Nothing in this box so far has been something that you would need a remover for – and frankly I have yet to need to use point remover on my lips, even when using a lip tint.  My regular cleansing balm works just fine, thanks, and I’d rather have a nice lip cosmetic product or conditioner or something.

5. Rosemine Vitamin E Lip Balm – Mint Tea

“Scented with a refreshingly minty, herbal fragrance, this Vitamin E Lip Balm is richly formulated from a blend of vitamin E, ceramide, peppermint extracts and 5 different kinds of moisturizing essential oil. It coats over dry, chapped lips with a moisture layer to lock in the moisture and to protect against external damage or dehydration.”

Seriously?  There was almost exactly the same balm in the Pouch Essentials box – the only difference was the flavor.  If you are offering a “value set” of multiple boxes, you should at least ensure that people aren’t getting the same products twice in the set.

Wow.  There was exactly one product I liked in this box.  The scrub would have been okay but for the microbeads, so I’ll chalk that up to my pickiness.  That bumps this box up to two out of 5 products being useful.  Not quite what I’m looking for. Even assuming that these products are worth what Memebox says, I like $24 out of an $81 box.
